Advocacy Program

Bicharan Kallyan Sangstha’s Advocacy Program is dedicated to fostering social equity, empowering vulnerable groups, and promoting gender-sensitive and inclusive development. Key components of this program include:

1. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Gender Mainstreaming

Bicharan advocates for the protection and empowerment of women and girls, particularly through initiatives that address GBV. Central to this mission is the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy, which underscores Bicharan’s commitment to ensuring a safe, abuse-free environment for all. This policy applies to all staff, emphasizing shared responsibility for safeguarding, with clear ethical guidelines set by the organization’s Code of Conduct.

Through awareness-raising initiatives and strategic gender mainstreaming, Bicharan integrates gender sensitivity across its operations, ensuring equal participation and benefits for all community members.

2. Youth Development and Empowerment

Recognizing the critical role of youth in national progress, Bicharan’s Youth Development and Training Program focuses on equipping young individuals with the skills and opportunities necessary to lead and drive change. Leadership training, internships, and volunteer opportunities foster a generation of socially responsible leaders, actively engaged in community and national development.

3. Women and Adolescent Empowerment

Bicharan prioritizes the empowerment of women and adolescent girls by enhancing their social and economic agency. Targeted interventions promote gender equality, provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, and ensure their active participation in community development. These programs aim to create an environment where women and girls can thrive, contributing to an inclusive society.

4. Disability Rights and Inclusion

Bicharan is committed to promoting the inclusion and empowerment of individuals with disabilities, recognizing that nearly 10% of Bangladesh’s population lives with disabilities. All of Bicharan’s programs mandate the inclusion of at least 10% of participants with disabilities, and 3% of its workforce is reserved for people with disabilities. Furthermore, all facilities and infrastructures are designed to be disability-friendly. By 2028, Bicharan aims to empower at least 5,000 individuals with disabilities, ensuring their full participation in societal development.
