Bangladesh has experienced unprecedented flooding over the last three years, with regions across the country facing some of the most severe flood conditions in recorded history. In particular, the Sylhet Division witnessed a devastating flash flood that broke a 150-year record, while the Chittagong Division experienced an extreme flood event not seen for 87 years. Additionally, Rangpur and Rajshahi Divisions have faced recurring floods, tornadoes, and other extreme weather events each year. The southern regions, such as Barishal and Khulna Divisions, have also suffered long-lasting floods due to rising sea levels driven by climate change.

In response to these escalating crises, Bicharan Kallyan Sangstha launched its Emergency Flood Response Program to provide vital support to affected communities. This program focuses on delivering immediate relief, including food, non-food items, household essentials, as well as health and emergency shelter support for flood victims across the country.

To date, Bicharan has provided critical assistance to over 75,000 people affected by floods in various regions. The organization’s rapid intervention has been crucial in mitigating the devastating effects of these floods, ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to basic necessities and medical care during times of extreme distress.
