Health And Nutrition Support

Although Bangladesh has shown tremendous improvement in healthcare services recently, it is also noticeable that a big portion of the total people lack quality health services. Currently, according to ICDDRB, 35% of people in Bangladesh are still food insecure. 600,000 children suffer from severe acute malnutrition. 43% of Children aged six months to five years suffer from anaemia. Stunted children under five make up 28% of the population. The absence of continuous access to health care services is a big issue for the more than 66% of Bangladeshis who reside in rural areas. On the other hand, while access to medical services is generally greater in cities, the standard of care is sometimes inferior. The number of hospital beds available in government healthcare facilities is just 0.32 per 1,000 residents. Furthermore, it is still very difficult to guarantee that everyone has equitable access to contemporary, cutting-edge healthcare because these services are primarily found in the nation’s capital and a few other large urban centers.

Only 2.5% of people in the population have health insurance, meaning that most people are still at risk of financial hardship due to medical costs. Other than the government’s healthcare facilities, many non-governmental organizations prioritize preventative care through immunization campaigns, sanitation and hygiene campaigns, and health education initiatives. These initiatives not only increase awareness but also provide communities and individuals the power to make health-related decisions with knowledge.

Bicharan is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of its beneficiaries by improving access to essential health services, proper nutrition, and family planning resources. Through comprehensive health and nutrition programs, we aim to promote reproductive health and overall wellness, ensuring that communities have the knowledge and resources to maintain healthy lifestyles.
