In Bangladesh, despite being a riverine country, access to clean and safe drinking water remains a significant challenge for many. With a population of over 171 million, an estimated 70 million people (40% of the population) lack access to safe water. This scarcity of clean drinking water poses serious health risks, especially in rural, plain, and hill tract regions.
To address this critical need, Bicharan Kallyan Sangstha launched its Tubewell Installation Program, aimed at providing reliable and safe water sources to underserved communities across Bangladesh. By installing tubewells in areas with limited or no access to clean water, Bicharan plays a pivotal role in ensuring that communities can access safe drinking water for their daily needs, helping to prevent waterborne diseases and improve overall public health.
To date, this program has benefitted 450,700 individuals, significantly reducing water scarcity in targeted regions and improving the quality of life for thousands of families. The WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiative continues to expand its reach, driven by the goal of enhancing health and well-being through access to safe water.
This strategic intervention underscores Bicharan’s commitment to creating sustainable solutions for some of Bangladesh’s most pressing challenges, ensuring that clean water is not a luxury, but a basic right for all.
