Washroom Installation
In Bangladesh, despite its progress in various sectors, 118 million people (69%) still lack access to safe and sanitary toilets. This lack of basic sanitation creates hazardous living conditions, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly, and accelerates the spread of diseases across the country. The situation is especially critical in urban slums, refugee camps, including the Rohingya camps, and rural areas, where overcrowding and poor sanitation intensify health risks.
To address this urgent need, Bicharan Kallyan Sangstha launched its Washroom Installation Program, aiming to provide safe and hygienic toilet facilities to families in underprivileged areas. By ensuring access to proper sanitation, Bicharan contributes to reducing the spread of infectious diseases, improving hygiene, and promoting a healthier environment for the communities most in need.
To date, this program has benefitted 400 families, significantly improving their living conditions and reducing health risks associated with poor sanitation. Bicharan remains committed to expanding this program, working towards the goal of ensuring that every family, regardless of location or circumstance, has access to safe and dignified sanitation facilities.
This initiative is part of Bicharan’s broader WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) efforts, focusing on improving public health, reducing environmental hazards, and enhancing the overall well-being of disadvantaged communities across Bangladesh.
