Water Tank Distribution

Bangladesh is facing a growing salinity crisis, affecting nearly 2 million people—a number expected to double to 4 million by 2050 due to climate change and environmental degradation. This crisis has severely impacted access to safe drinking water, agricultural production, and livelihoods, particularly in coastal regions where saltwater intrusion into freshwater sources is most severe.

In response, Bicharan Kallyan Sangstha has launched the Water Storage and Distribution Enhancement Program to alleviate the scarcity of fresh water in the most affected areas. Through this initiative, 100 water tanks, each with a 500-liter capacity, have been distributed to families in need. These tanks are specifically designed to collect and store rainwater, ensuring a sustainable supply of clean water for drinking and daily household use.

So far, this program has positively impacted 1,000 individuals, reducing their dependence on increasingly limited freshwater sources. The collected rainwater serves multiple purposes, including drinking and household activities, significantly improving the quality of life for these communities.

By focusing on coastal regions where the effects of salinity are most severe, this initiative plays a vital role in providing immediate relief while also enhancing long-term resilience against climate-induced water shortages. Bicharan Kallyan Sangstha remains committed to expanding this program, ensuring more families have access to fresh water, thereby safeguarding their health, well-being, and livelihoods.
